Experiential learning is part of both the current and revised GLAS curricula. All GLAS students complete a credit-bearing experience beyond the classroom, through exchange, overseas immersion, internship or field-based learning.

Field Trips
Structured, academically grounded learning in the regions students study.
Exchange abroad
Study at a partner institution and deepen regional knowledge over a semester or year.
Internships
Apply disciplinary and language skills in host organisations such as government offices, museums, educational institutions and private companies.
Intensive Overseas Programmes
Use approved overseas study to build language proficiency and regional understanding.

Alignment with your region
Perfect alignment will not always be possible because placements and field opportunities vary. The guiding principle is nevertheless that experiential learning should contribute meaningfully to a student's regional expertise whenever feasible
6 credits of experiential learning
Both the current and revised curriculum allocate 6 credits to an approved experiential activity. Relevant options include exchange, overseas immersion, internship and field trip courses.
